Shelley Putman
M. Ed, RCC
I believe that within each of us lies the inherent capacity to navigate life’s challenges. As a therapist, I see my role as a partner in your journey, offering support, guidance, and compassion. My aim is to provide you with a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can express yourself freely; to help you recognize your strengths, embrace your best qualities, and build resilience. While I may not have all the answers, I’m here to guide you as you uncover the answers within yourself, empowering you to become your own greatest ally.
I hold a Master’s degree in Educational Counselling from City University of Seattle. With over 15 years of experience in the educational system, complemented by my work at the Chilliwack Youth Health Centre providing both individual and group counseling, I have cultivated a deep gratitude for the human resilience. My therapeutic practice is informed by a diverse range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered therapy, and solution-focused approaches. I am dedicated to continuous learning, both professionally and personally, to ensure that I offer the most effective support to my clients.
Outside of my professional life, I find joy in the serenity of being near water, even if I prefer not to be in it. When not working, I enjoy hiking, indulging in a good book with a cup of tea, spending quality time with loved ones or exploring new places through travel. These activities keep me grounded and connected, enriching my ability to be fully present for my clients. I believe in the importance of maintaining a balanced life and encourage my clients to pursue their own interests and passions as integral parts of their healing process.
