MSc, RCC

As a counsellor, I view therapy as the forming of a unique and collaborative relationship, through which I can provide my clients with the space and time to navigate both their inner world, as well as their experiences with the world around them. Throughout this process, non-judgemental listening, empathy, and seeking continuous input from the client remain integral for me as a clinician. Through this, positive change that resonates with the goals of each individual client can be made!

I hold a Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology from Acadia University in Nova Scotia, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Previously, I have trained in the public setting, at the Dalhousie University Health & Wellness Centre, as well as in private practice settings. My past experience includes a wide range of clients, including adolescents, as I have worked with clients in addressing various challenges, such as processing grief, making meaningful change in depression and anxiety symptoms, and in navigating many of life’s challenges. I hold formal training in Cognitve Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). As well, my educational background has equipped me with training in other evidence-based modalities, allowing me to provide individualized care that best suits the needs of each person. I am committed to ongoing learning.

As a graduate of a science-based clinical program, I am passionate about ensuring that my therapeutic approaches are backed by strong evidence. As well, I am a Punjabi woman who is the daughter of immigrants, and I have the lived experience of many issues faced by South Asian and other marginalized communities. As such, I find it a privilege to work with those coming from these backgrounds, and in being able to form shared understandings of how our experiences impact our emotional lives in complex ways. I am also fluent in Punjabi. In my personal life, I love being with animals, reading, attending concerts, spending time with my loved ones, and travelling!
