Abbotsford Valley Counselling provides Dialectical Behavioral Therapy Counselling in Abbotsford. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) can be used to treat a number of personal struggles, including but not limited to depression, anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse, and eating disorders. The goal of DBT is to address emotion regulation. Many individuals struggle with mood swings and an inability to cope with intense feelings. They then use unhealthy behaviors to cope with the emotion, for example self-harm, substance misuse, eating disorder behaviors, and more. DBT helps an individual learn how to cope when the emotions become overwhelming. This allows the individual to utilize healthy skills rather than unhealthy behaviors. Many of the counsellors at Abbotsford Valley Counselling are formally trained in DBT.
