Jorrie Alary

MSW, RSW, RCC

I have a strong belief that in each moment people are doing the best they can.At times we can get stuck in unhelpful habits and need an encouraging person to help us move forward. My goal is to create a safe space so that people can explore their thought patterns, behaviours and emotions that are getting in the way of them living a wholehearted life.

I am known for being deeply compassionate, curious, and non-judgmental. I believe these traits are essential in the counselling relationship to support people to access their own natural healing abilities and inner resources. I consider it a great privilege to be a part of someone else’s healing and recovery.

My therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solutions-focused Therapy, mindfulness and compassion practices, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed care. I have 20 years of clinical experience as a mental health professional in acute hospital settings, non-profit organizations, federal correctional institutions and community mental health and substance use treatment centres. I am a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Clinical Counsellor.

Outside of work, I am a parent to two school aged children. I enjoy watching comedy and live theatre, beekeeping, reading, swimming in lakes and being outside.
