Samantha Cowx
MSW Intern, RSW
I see therapy as a journey we walk together. You are the expert in your own healing, and my role is to walk alongside you with openness, respect, and compassion. My approach is strength-based and trauma-informed, honouring struggles as survivals and resilience. I draw from Indigenous ways of knowing—storytelling, connection, collaboration, and humility—and I work to create a safe, inclusive space where your voice and truth are valued. Therapy with me is not about fixing you, but about supporting you to love yourself, reconnect with your strengths, and reframe the story you carry. I hold space for the complexity of being human—for those who have experienced harm and for those facing the harm they’ve caused—always with honesty, accountability, and compassion.
I have over 20 years of experience walking alongside people through challenges such as mental health, addictions, family systems, grief, trauma, and major life transitions. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and am completing my Master’s degree at the University of the Fraser Valley. As a Registered Social Worker, I continue to learn and grow both professionally and personally. I don’t claim to have all the answers; instead, I am here to walk alongside you, honouring your story and finding together what feels meaningful and supportive for your journey. I integrate practices I am familiar with, such as Narrative Therapy, the Power Threat Meaning Framework, CBT, Solution-Focused work, attachment theory, anti-oppressive practices, and empowerment models—but I tailor approaches to each person and their needs.
I am Métis Cree, born and raised in Langley, and my roots and family background deeply shape the way I show up in this work. Earning my black belt in martial arts was a grueling but empowering process that taught me strength, persistence, and balance—values that continue to guide me in life and practice. Outside of work, I enjoy riding my motorcycle, traveling, and spending time with my children and dogs. I bring humour, empathy, and compassion into my work, and I believe that healing happens through honesty, courage, and the shared humanity of walking the path together.
